The First Belly Dancers

Each of these three of  drawings are part of a series. They were among the first belly dancer works I ever did. They are each approx. 4'x5' drawings on stretched muslin. The muslin was toned with pigments and then drawn on with charcoal and white chalk then fixed. Keep in mind each of these three are figures from my imagination or memory. They may have been inspired by a certain dancer in a certain pose but, I did not use photo reference, only my memory. I continue to be inspired by the belly dancer and have since created many more drawings of belly dancers. Stay tuned for a future post that will go into "Why Belly Dancers."
